“Pack your bag.” “Start your homework.” “Don’t forget your water bottle!”

Day after day, the same reminders on repeat. They’re said with love, but reminders alone don’t build independence. Children learn independence by practising it.

 

From Reminders to Responsibility

Upper primary brings more on their plate: more homework, CCAs and responsibilities to manage independently. 
To keep up, children need executive functioning skills, the brain’s “mental muscles” for planning, managing time, staying focused and keeping calm when things don’t go to plan. 

Like any muscle, these skills grow stronger with practice.

 

The Quest to Independence

Mission: Independence! is a full-day, hands-on executive functioning workshop that builds four key skills: planning, time management, focus and self-control. Through construction challenges, time-based missions and realistic scenarios, children discover practical tools they can use at school and at home, while building the habits they need to get things done on their own.


Mission Objectives

✔️Get things done independently by breaking tasks into manageable steps
✔️Stay on track with fewer reminders by checking progress and adjusting pace
✔️Make better use of time by planning ahead and spotting distractions
✔️ Handle frustration and big emotions calmly, instead of reacting on impulse
✔️Build habits that last through regular practice at home

 

Mission Details

Recommended Age: 10–12 years old (Primary 4 to Primary 6)

Date & Time:  2 Dec, 9 Dec or 16 Dec, 10:00am – 5:00pm                                                      

Format: Full-day workshop (lunch provided)

Location: HA Academy Learning Studio@Newton, Cairnhill Community Club

What is the coach-to-child ratio?

Children are grouped in small teams, with a maximum coach-to-child ratio of 1:6.
 

Group sizes are kept small to ensure individual attention and a supportive learning environment.

Can I get a refund if my child can’t attend?

Programme fees are non-refundable once your booking is confirmed. This includes cases of late arrival, early departure, non-attendance, or withdrawal after enrolment.


You may request to transfer your booking to another available programme of equal value, subject to availability. All change requests can be made online/ through a written notice to hello@ha-academy.com at least 5 working days before the start date of the programme.


If a programme is cancelled by HA Academy due to unforeseen circumstances (as set out in our Terms & Conditions), you may choose to receive a full refund or transfer your enrolment to a future date.


We understand that exceptional situations can arise. Requests relating to serious medical conditions or other compelling reasons may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at the Academy’s discretion. Please refer to our full Refund Policy for details.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes. Lunch will be provided during a one-hour lunch break. 

Please ensure that your child’s dietary preferences, allergies and any special requirements are fully declared during registration via the registration form. This will help us ensure that meals are provided safely and cater to your child’s needs.
