Discover the fabled Battle of Pasir Panjang this June holiday through a full-day adventure of 1942-inspired activities.

This immersive programme invites children to reflect on the hardships of Singapore’s past and fosters a deeper appreciation for the peace and safety of modern-day Singapore.

The Story

What happens when you take away the screens, the everyday comforts, and the guarantees of tomorrow? It is 1942, and Singapore is under siege.

Instead of just reading about history, your child will step directly into it. Stranded during the fierce defense of Pasir Panjang, they must rely on grit, teamwork, and quick thinking to make it through the day. They will walk the ground where our Singaporean heroes made their last stand, cook a meal using scarce wartime resources, and navigate the wilderness without a GPS.

This programme is more than just a history lesson. It’s designed as a  transformative adventure that builds resilience, resourcefulness, and gratitude for the peace and privilege of the world they live in today.

The Experience

In this full day experience, children will undertake:

🪖 Reflections at Bukit Chandu: Form an emotional connection to Singapore’s wartime heroism that goes beyond textbook learning

🗺️Find your way back: Navigate with your team using maps, clues, and problem-solving skills in order to complete the journey

🍳 Outdoor cooking: Experience the scarcity of the past though a team activity that cooks up wartime-inspired meals

Frequently asked questions

Have questions? We’re here to help

Who is the programme suitable for?

Echoes of the Past is designed for children aged 7–12 years (P1-P6) who enjoy outdoor activities and learning through fun. No prior outdoor or navigation experience is required. Activities are structured and guided to suit different age groups and abilities.

What is the coach-to-child ratio?

Children are grouped in small teams, with a maximum coach-to-child ratio of 1:10.

Group sizes are kept small to ensure individual attention and a supportive learning environment.

What is the programme experience like?

This programme adopts a fully immersive, storyline-driven approach, where participants are placed in a simulated wartime scenario and experience history through action rather than passive learning. By integrating real historical exposure with hands-on challenges such as navigation and outdoor cooking, participants are able to connect emotionally and physically with the realities of the past.

Will lunch be provided?

Yes, a bento lunch set will be provided for this programme.

Is the outdoor programme very physically demanding?

Activities are age-appropriate and guided. Children are encouraged but not pushed beyond their limits.

What are your safety policies?

Your child’s safety and well-being are our top priorities. We maintain strict child supervision ratios, conduct risk assessments before every activity, and have facilitators trained in first aid and emergency procedures. Parents will be contacted immediately in case of emergencies.

Can I stay with my child during the programme?

We’ve found that children engage and participate best when they have the freedom to explore and interact independently. For that reason, we generally recommend that parents do not sit in during the session.

What should my child bring?

Parents will receive a detailed Info Pack closer to the programme date. In general, children should come with:

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing and covered shoes
  • A water bottle
  • Sun protection (cap, sunscreen)
  • Any personal medication (if required)

All learning materials will be provided.

Can I get a refund if my child can’t attend?

Programme fees are non-refundable once your booking is confirmed. This includes cases of late arrival, early departure, non-attendance, or withdrawal after enrolment.

You may request to transfer your booking to another available programme of equal value, subject to availability. All change requests can be made online/ through a written notice to hello@ha-academy.com at least 5 working days before the start date of the programme.

If a programme is cancelled by HA Academy due to unforeseen circumstances (as set out in our Terms & Conditions), you may choose to receive a full refund or transfer your enrolment to a future date.

We understand that exceptional situations can arise. Requests relating to serious medical conditions or other compelling reasons may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at the Academy’s discretion. Please refer to our full Refund Policy for details.

Will there be toilet & water breaks?

Yes. Regular toilet, hydration, and rest breaks are built into all of our programmes. For outdoor programmes, breaks are scheduled more frequently to ensure participants remain comfortable, safe, and well-hydrated throughout the day.

What happens if it rains?

We have wet-weather contingency plans in place. Activities may be modified, relocated, or replaced with suitable alternatives to ensure safety and comfort, while still achieving the intended learning outcomes.
