But what does that mean and does it actually work?

 

Does mugging and spending long hours of studying equate to “studying hard”? Do we really want our children stressed and burnt out from cramming? 

 

Deep down, what we actually mean is to study properly. We want our children to sit down, focus, and make the most of their studying hours. We want their learning to be intentional, structured, and effective.

But the problem is that most children were never taught how to study. 

“Teach a child how to fish and you feed them for a lifetime."

To address this, our 10-week Building the Academic Toolkit Series is designed to help your child take ownership of their own academic toolkit. These skills follow them through every subject, every exam and every challenge ahead, building confidence and success.

In today’s educational world, we don’t want our children to be spoon-fed, nor do we want them to work tirelessly without results. That is neither real growth nor sustainable. 

 

Building the Academic Toolkit is a structured and comprehensive series that develops effective study skills step-by-step. It provides students with a skillset that they can apply across every subject and level.

What children will learn

To keep up with the rapidly changing world, we equip students with 21st Century Competencies, such as the ability to think critically, navigate information, and integrate modern tools like AI into traditional study methods.

 

🌵Learning habits that persist

Long-term progress comes not just from effort, but from consistency over time. Students learn to stay consistent, overcome procrastination, and turn small actions into lasting study habits.

 

✈️Exam strategies that work at every level

Master the techniques to approach questions, manage time, and perform with clarity and confidence in exams. Students are not only prepared in content, but also in how they handle exam conditions.

At the conclusion of the programme, our team will have one-on-one sessions with both parent and child to wrap up the experience.

 

📞One-on-one sharing with parents (30 minute call)

Our Lead Youth Development Specialist will review the coach’s observations, highlighting your child's unique strengths and key areas for growth.

 

👂🏼One-on-one youth check-in (30 minute in-person)

A dedicated session for the coach to connect directly with your child and reinforce key developmental points.

Why do study skills matter? 

Children often face long studying hours and significant stress in trying to meet today’s academic expectations.

 

This programme is focused on teaching children the skills on how to study, so that children can maximise their studying hours, or are able to get through their study workload in less time.

 

These skills will allow children to reach their academic goals more easily, with less stress, and with more time to spend on other things.

Who is this programme suitable for?

This programme is designed to equip children with the skills and mindset to study more effectively, allowing them to reach their academic potential more independently, with less stress and more free time for other activities. 

 

The programme is split to two cohorts catered to children aged 10–12 years (P4-P6) and 12–13 years (Sec 1 - Sec 2).

 

Children who will benefit most from this programme may be described as:

  • Needing a lot of tuition to keep up or achieve their goals
  • Having poor time management
  • Being unable to study without guidance
  • Studies very hard but unable to perform in exams

Who are your coaches?

Our programmes are led by experienced coaches who have worked extensively with MOE schools from primary to tertiary levels, specialising in youth development and experiential learning.

 

This combination ensures your child is supported academically, socially, and emotionally throughout the programme.

 

For each programme, coaches will be selected based on the profile of the class participants. 

What is the coach-to-child ratio?   

The coach-to-child ratio is capped at 1:6.


Group sizes are kept small to ensure individual attention and a supportive learning environment.

Can I get a refund if my child can’t attend?

Programme fees are non-refundable once enrolment is confirmed. This includes cases of late arrival, early departure, non-attendance, or withdrawal after enrolment.


If a programme is cancelled by HA Academy due to unforeseen circumstances (as set out in our Terms & Conditions), you may choose to receive a full refund or transfer your enrolment to a future date.

 

We understand that exceptional situations can arise. Requests relating to serious medical conditions or other compelling reasons may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis at the Academy’s discretion. Please refer to our full Refund Policy for details.
